Oh My Gods. What a book! This was one amazing book. The first book was great but this one was phenomenal. It was so full of amazing things. It was even better written and thought out.
This is Lindsay's Continuing Story. You would think now that the evil it was gone that they could get a break. But unfortunately now there's an even bigger threat to their lives and their love. One of their biggest problems is the Tribunal as they do not want their King to marry a mere mortal. But with the new threat and the sudden appearance of Nevins wife they are at a loss as to what to do. And man is that woman evil. Unfortunately in this book someone will die and it'll be up to Lindsay to see if she can save them all is she comes to terms with being the Janusite. She now even has a familiar and wait to you meet Max. He may be cute when he shows up, but when he manifest himself and shows his true self to her. Let’s just say Nevan will not be happy at all. I so hope there is going to be a third book because I do not want to say goodbye to these characters yet.
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.

DNF. Honestly I tried but the story seems shaky for me and the voices for the characters were kind of irritating 😩

I think it has potential but a lot of holes in the story that didn’t work for me.

Mortal Fires is the second book in the Undercover Elementals. I must confess I started reading book 2 instead of book 1. I don’t recommend it because you lose a lot of drama, action and romance from the first plot. Nevertheless, some sections of book 2 give you enough information to figure things out. Main point is: This book is amazing and you need to read book 1 and 2 while waiting for the 3rd one!
The Undercover Elemental series tells the story of Lindsey Porter, the Janusite. She is a mortal that holds the power of a God, the one and only being that a key to opening portals between worlds. I assure you, you will come to love Lindsey. She is strong, intelligent and more stubborn than any other character that I have ever read about. The latter may sound like a bad thing but there is nothing wrong to trust your gut. There are times where instincts are the true key to survival and this woman prove that to me in several occasions. To complete her is her handsome supernatural boyfriend, Nevan. What can I say about him? He is the most sweet, considerate, sexy, manly and protective hero I have ever seen. To be fair, he isn’t Mr. Perfect. There were times I wanted to smack him in the head for taking logical decisions that would break his heart, Lindsey’s and endanger everyone since there is no way our heroine would go alone with them. Careful ladies, the way he speaks will have you giggling, grinning and melting.
There are secondary characters that will truly steal your heart. Personally, I have a soft spot for Max. He suffered so much since he became an immortal and didn’t expect things to change until Lindsey. He was so devoted, charming, funny and truly loyal. He gave me laughs, tears and a couple of heart attacks from time to time. Then again, what did I expect from the familiar of such a powerful and stubborn being such as the Janusite.
In this book, Lindsey and Nevan would have to face their hurtful and complicated pasts in order to even dream of having a happy ending. They will put to tests their trust, strength and determination, as well as the one of their friends. I assure you, you are in for quite a roller coaster of emotions you won’t want to miss.

But she still had no idea what that actually meant, what was expected from her, or even how to harness this apparently legendary magic. As if that wasn't complicated enough she discovered her boyfriend Nevan, a sylph and one named king no less, had been keeping something from her, or someone of grave importance. Her name was Ceara, and she had come to claim what was her, him, and the title of queen. She cares not that Lindsey is his soul mate, and she is not the only one to warn her away from the Sylph king, the Oracle himself says he will be her destruction. Something dark has come to the realms, something with its vision trained on Lindsey's power, and if she won't give it willingly, then he will take it by force, and his reach far extends what any of them could imagine.

The Mortal Fires byAnna Durand is the second book in the Undercover Elementals series. There was no book one for me, I just dove straight in, intrigued by the plot, and hooked from the first lines. Whilst the second book in the series it holds it own. It is clear I've missed some key events, but all the information I need to fill in the gaps is supplied with style and ease, never breaking the flow of the story. Packed with suspense, mystery, romance, and that gnawing feeling of dread The Moral Fires will compel you to read page after page, questioning what you think you know of the characters, wondering who can be trusted, and if the seemingly inevitable shall come to pass.

Paranormal Romance with Classic Fight of Good vs. Evil

If you're familiar with Anna Durand's work, you know she writes contemporary and paranormal character-driven romance in a sensual way. This book is the second of the Undercover Elemental series, and she delivers the goods. It is a steamy, paranormal romance that features the classic fight of good vs. evil as the impetus of the plot.

Lindsey, the heroine, has just come from the incredible fight in the previous book against her former boyfriend-turned-demon, and she also discovered that while she's mortal, she is the Janusite, given some of the abilities of that god. She learns more about what this means in this book. Her king of the sylphs boyfriend Nevan is here, of course, as well. Right away, they are embroiled in the first of what turns out to be a series of murders of women who look like Lindsey, and then Nevan’s wife from when he was mortal 5000 years ago shows up. Coincidence? Read the book and see! The plots twists and turns are many, giving both Lindsay and Nevan as well as the reader quite a ride.

I love Lindsey, by the way. No matter what the story throws at her, she is strong and resilient. She has a way of looking at things that keeps it all in perspective. She even helps lift Nevan out of brooding, nonhelpful thoughts.

The book has some issues with grammar, punctuation, and usage but none that were too distracting to detract from the enjoyment of the complex world that the author created.

If you enjoy paranormal romance with a high steaminess factor, this book may be right up your alley.

Yay - finally a heroine that has backbone no matter what is thrown at her and she stands strong. This is the second book in the Undercover Elementals series and while you could read it alone, I think you'd miss a ton of backstory. Read Book 1 first! It's where you first meet Lindsey.

The girl who thought she was normal, isn't. She is so much more and as she grows into her newfound "normal" she finds that things aren't any easier -- in fact, the problems get tougher, the bad guys get badder, and the adventure goes into overdrive. This is a speedy, action based read that you won't be able to put down. Lindsey is the star and you'll love her, no matter how things change, she rises to deal with them. Nevan is her immortal lover and now he is at risk. Lindsey will have to reach deep for the strength to save him, save their bond and reach an HEA.

New friends are made, new impossible situations overcome and we get more information fed to us at just the right speed. Well developed characters, a flowing story line and an overall great story. Where is Book 3? (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

Captivating book that draws you into a magical fight against evil

Stunning! Our heroine is happily together with her true love. Well! That is until a sorcerer starts killing girls who look like her and her lover's wife turns up after being awol for sometime. Are the two working together? A brilliantly woven story that pulls you in and has you living all the trials and tribulations that occur. The descriptions are vivid and so real that you can almost touch them. Whilst the characters grow with every page and start to take over your thoughts. A wonderful plot that covers magic, supernatural creatures and gods whilst still not becoming too unbelievable. A wonderful second book and the series just gets better and better.

Book two picks up after the defeat of Skeiron. As the new sylph king, Nevan clashes with his council over Lindsey as his consort and choice for his queen, as Lindsey's Janusite powers grow stronger. Mysterious killings and the return of Nevan's mortal wife who is now an evil and dangerous immortal elemental aligned with a vengeful master sorceror. All part of the thrilling sequel as Lindsey and Nevan and their allies confront and do battle with their deadly foes. This is truly a mesmerizing book from the beginning to the ending that leaves me anticipating more to come because there is still an enemy at large. Nicely done!

This is a full length fantasy romance with plenty high on heat scale and lots of different and complex plot lines. Some parts of story was quite engaging and there are lots of interesting characters and the elements of this world to make this story interesting. There are some parts of the story that is a bit tedious. Although the author tried to keep the story going with lots of plot twists and unexpected surprise, there were maybe too many of them. It might have been easier to lengthen the details of some plot lines and leave the other plot lines to another story. Voluntary and honest review after receiving ARC (advanced reader copy).

This is book 2 to the Undercover Elementals I had read book 1 awhile ago but I re- read it again from the start and I’m so glad I did. Lindsey has been imbibed with the powers of a god she is able to open portals to other worlds which makes her a Janusite. There is danger out there for Nevan and Lindsey someone is trying to kill them and a sorcerer is killing women out there who look a lot like Lindsey and to add to all of that a wife turns up right out of the blue. There’s action, danger, suspense, mythology, sizzling scenes and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages, this is a fantastic story and I highly recommended this book.

This is the second book of the Undercover Elemental series and it is steamy paranormal romance and all I can say is Wow! Read this book it's wonderful.

There is an evil woman, murders of women looking like Lindsey, suspense, drama, danger, and twists, turns, and romance. Lindsey has learned that she is the Janusite, that she will possess the power of Janus, god of the doorways and of transitions. This story drew me in and did not let go until I had finished reading. A thrilling continuation of "Mortal Falls", this book should not be read as a stand alone. Too much information would be missing to really enjoy the plot to its fullest.

I love mythology and Anna Durand has done a great job of mixing mythology and paranormal romance in this second book in this series and I have to say that although I enjoyed the first book, I enjoyed this book more.

The characters are well drawn and have depth, the author's writing style really draws you into the story. There is such a lot going on in this book with many twists and turns which I didn't see coming. I'm not going to say anymore because it would spoil the story for you.

This was a great story. It was well written and fast paced. The chemistry between the characters was sizzling hot. This book has everything you need to keep you turning pages hot sexy men, steamy scenes and some conflict thrown in. I cannot wait for what this author writes next.
