Former NC State Defensive Tackle Justin Jones (2014-17) has signed a 3-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

The deal is worth a total of $30.1 million, with $19.75 million guaranteed.
Jones spent the past two seasons in Chicago, where he started in every game, recording 101 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.
In 2018, Jones was taken in the 3rd round by the Chargers. After playing in 15 games as a reserve as a rookie, Jones started for the Bolts for the next 3 years before signing with the Bears.

Tomorrow night the Celtics and the Mavericks will play Game 2 of the 2024 NBA Finals.
While no former NC State players are playing in the NBA Finals this year, 5 former Wolfpack players have played in the Championship series in the past.
1) Josh Powell – 3 times (06, 09, 10)
2) Chuck Nevitt – 2 times (85 & 88)
3) Nate McMillan – 1 time (96)
3) Chucky Brown – 1 time (95)

NC State’s DJ Horne is currently on tour, participating in NBA Pre-Draft Workout’s all over the country. I checked in with Horne, and he gave me a rundown of which teams he’s worked out with, and which ones are on the horizon.
Horne told me that he has already worked out for the Memphis Grizzlies. He was supposed to workout for Houston yesterday, but storms in Dallas prevented his flight from taking off (that workout will be made up on June 20th). Today he worked out for Golden State, and he also has workouts scheduled with the Charlotte Hornets, the Dallas Mavericks and the Indiana Pacers.

NC State’s DJ Burns has lost 45 pound over the past 6 weeks in preparation for the 2024 NBA Draft, and he wants to make sure people know he didn’t need Ozempic to do it. Burns has been working out 4 days a week at 5am.
Recently, Burns had a predraft workout with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Former NC State Punter Trenton Gill has signed with the Denver Broncos after he was released by the Bears this offseason.

Gill was drafted by Chicago in the 7th round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and has averaged 46.1 yards per punt through his first two NFL seasons.
Heading into the 2024 season, Gill will compete with Riley Dixon for the starting Punter job. Dixon was the Broncos’ starter in 2023, averaging 46.3 yards per punt.
Gill’s career average of 45.8 yards per punt in college is the best in NC State history. In 2019, Gill averaged 47.6 yards per punt, which led the ACC, and earned him a spot on the All-ACC Third Team. In 2021, he was on the All-ACC 1st Team. All 3 of his seasons as NC State’s Punter rank in the Top-6 in school history for best punting average in a single season.
