Ronald Gene Brown, 86 of Orangefield, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Ronnie was born May 18, 1938, to Rhoneta Faye MacDonald and Charles Hiram Brown. Ronnie is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Marilyn Brown; sons Michael Brown, Daryl Brown and life-partner Luci Sheppard, and Ron Brown and his wife Patricia; grandchildren Andrew Brown, Rebekah Kostelak and husband Tom; Daniel Brown; Caleb Brown and wife Tori; Lisa Brown and husband Elliott Cox; Matthew Brown; and Megan Brozek and husband Dillon; great-grandchildren, Thea and Ezra Kostelak; brother, Mack Brown and wife Linda; and sister Rita Harris and husband Tom. O’Neal, the patriarch of the Wilson family, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 2, 2024, at the age of 96. Tootsie said it best, as she described him as a good man, a good husband, a good daddy, a good pawpaw, and a good Christian. And he was in fact all of those things. O’Neal was born on September 3, 1927, in Shelby County, Texas and went to several schools as a boy, before graduating from Center in 1944. He enlisted and served in the Army Air Corp and was later drafted back into the Air Force during the Korean War. All in all, he served 5 years, 5 months, and 5 days. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mahlan Paul Broussard, 90, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Born in Kaplan, Louisiana, on August 5, 1933, to the late Mayo and Sophie Broussard, Mahlan’s journey through life was marked by dedication, service, and faith. After years of hard work and dedication to his career, he and his wife made the life-changing decision to retire to Buna, Texas. Their ranch became a labor of love, but it wasn’t all a labor. Their retirement to their ranch was more than a change of scenery; it was a transformation of life, filled with happiness, peace, and a deep bond with nature and the animals they cherished. Frank E. “Butch” Frazier 84 of Nederland passed away Friday, April 26, at Bonne Vie in Port Arthur. Butch was born on February 6, 1940, in Port Neches, to Jennie and Gene Frazier. Butch graduated Nederland High School in May of 1958, and married his sweetheart, Myrhl in July of the same year. They began their life together on the family farm in Groveton, TX. In December of 1967, they moved their family back to Nederland and Butch took a job with the Texas Asphalt plant in Port Neches. He retired from his Night Foreman position in 1997, and he and Myrhl spent the next several years traveling throughout America in their RV. Margie “Nell” Breaux, 87, of LaBelle, died Friday, April 26, 2024. She was born November 1, 1936, in Rayne, Louisiana, to Dovie and Curley Thibodeaux. Nell enjoyed sewing for everyone, traveling in the motorhome, and loved her fur baby Joy. Most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Dalton David Drake, 24, of Nederland, died Monday, April 22, 2024. He was born November 29, 1999, in Beaumont, to Gretchen Craft and David Randall Drake, Jr. Dalton was a very strong and loving man. He was very loyal and always stood up for what he thought was right. Dalton always cared and wanted to help anybody that needed him. His love for his daughter, Octavia, was unmatched. Ulyesse Edwin “Bootsie” Duplant, 81, of Nederland, died with his children by his side Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Christus Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth. He was born on August 16, 1942, in Port Arthur, to Doris Sonnier Duplant (deceased ‘14) and Robert Edwin Duplant (deceased ‘66). He was the brother of Joan (Duplant) Cole, Ronald “Ronnie” Duplant (deceased ‘83), Donovan “Donnie” Duplant (deceased ‘92), and Janell (Duplant) McCorkle. He built a home for his high school sweetheart and wife, Patricia “Pat” Haynes Duplant (deceased ‘17) and their two children, Moni (Duplant) Hopper (husband, Brad), and Bret Edwin Duplant (wife, Carmel). He worked as a lab tech for DuPont for 38 years. On his days off during shrimping season, he would either be found making shrimp nets or on a boat.
